The Marlin Soccer Academy camps place emphasis on teaching technical development, tactical decision-making and helping to foster the "love of the game" attitude seen in today's top players. The senior overnight camp is for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. Camps will be held on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan College.
2007 Marlin Soccer Academy Senior Overnight Camp
- June 22-24
The Marlin Soccer Academy is a residential camp meant to be a high-level teaching and training camp for girls at the sophomore, junior and senior levels planning to play soccer at the collegiate level.
Ages: High school sophomores, juniors and seniors
Registration: Friday, 12 to 1:30 p.m.
Time: First field session: Friday, 2:30 p.m.; three sessions
on Saturday; last session Sunday morning; closing ceremony Sunday, 11 a.m.
Meals: Meals will be provided
Equipment to bring: Cleats, indoor shoes, shin guards,
water bottle, ball, sunblock, towel/toiletries, sheets/pillow
Cost: $230 commuter or resident; communter spots are limited
to first 50 (A $100 deposit is required with registration; final payment
due June 15)

2007 Marlin Soccer Academy Day Camp
- July 16-20
The goal of the Marlin Soccer Academy Day Camp is to give campers of all ability levels a very positive overall experience, improving their skills and team play in a fun but challenging atmosphere.
Ages: 8-12
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m.
to 11:30 a.m. Friday
Meals: Campers should bring their own lunches
Equipment to bring: Cleats, indoor shoes, shin guards,
water bottle, ball, sunblock, towel
Cost: $230 per camper (a $100 deposit is required with
registration; final payment due July 6). Campers receive a free camp T-shirt.
Additionally, campers will have the opportunity to enjoy the state-of-the-art
Jane P. Batten Student Center facilities.
Goalkeeper training: Goalkeepers attending the Jeff Bowers
Soccer Academy will train primarily as keepers for the week.

Camp Coaching Staff

Jeff Bowers, the head women's soccer coach at Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, Va., has compiled a 70-25-9 overall record with the Marlins and has received numerous accolades, including 2005 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Coach of the Year honors as well as South Region Coach of the Year honors in 2003 and 2005. He has coached the only three All-Americans in the history of the program and led the Marlins to the Elite Eight round of the NCAA tournament in 2003. He also coached the semi-professional women's team, the Hampton Roads Piranhas, in 2004 and 2005. Bowers holds a Premier License from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and a "B" License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
Virginia Wesleyan assistant coaches and players work as members of the coaching staff. A certified athletic trainer will also be on staff.
