2008 Nick Boothe Fall Baseball Academy
The Virginia Wesleyan College baseball program invites you to the Nick Boothe Fall Baseball Academy, which will take place September 2008 thru November 2008. Open to ages 7-18 years old.

About the Academy
In it's 15th year of existence, the Nick Boothe Fall Baseball Academy is an excellent opportunity for individuals to increase their baseball skills and knowledge during the fall baseball season. The Academy will be limited and a three-month commitment must be made by all athletes. This commitment will enable the coaches to help the athletes achieve projected goals and refine their baseball skills. The Academy will be very detailed and skill oriented and will allow each participant ample time to reach their potential athletic skills. The starting date for the academy is September 7, 2008.
Registration and cost information
Space will be limited for the Academy , so register early. The cost is $375.00 and includes 12 sessions of instruction on baseball mechanics which includes hitting, pitching, positional breakdowns and the basic baseball fundamentals. These sessions will cover two hours. A deposit of $200 must accompany the 2008 registration application by Tuesday, September 2 . The remaining balance of $175 must be paid by Sunday, September 28. Please make all checks payable to Nick Boothe.
Note: If no deposit is received by September 2, a deposit of $200 must be paid on Sunday, September 7, the first session of the Academy. In addition, another $200 must be paid by Sunday, September 28.

Nick Boothe, Camp Director
Virginia Wesleyan Head Baseball Coach Nick Boothe is in his 23rd season as head coach at the College and 28th season as camp director of the Blue Marlin Baseball Camps. Nick has been named Coach of the Year seven times during his career at Virginia Wesleyan, and his teams are continually ranked among the top thirty in the nation. He is one of the few collegiate coaches to own more than 500 career victories. In 1998, he won the prestigious Louisville Slugger Award for Excellence in Coaching. In 2006 and 2004, he won the Virginia Sports Information Director's College Division Coach of the Year award. Nick has received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Coach of the year six times- 1997, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, and 2006. Under his coaching the Virginia Wesleyan baseball team won the ODAC Championship in 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2006, and finished second in the NCAA South Regional Tournament.
Mike Loyd
Mike is in his eighth season as assistant coach for the Marlins. He is a former Virginia Wesleyan College four-year standout, and graduated in '1995 with a degree in recreation and leisure. Mike came to Virginia Wesleyan from the University of Richmond, where he was an assistant coach for three years. He also spent two seasons at The College of William and Mary, where he helped guide the Tribe to their only CAA Championship.
Other Academy instructors include current Virginia Wesleyan baseball players and former Virginia Wesleyan baseball players who are competing for positions and/or playing with various Major League Baseball franchises.
