The Class of 1998 is planning a 10-year reunion during the traditional Homecoming Tailgate party on Saturday, October 4, 2008.
The tailgate begins at 12 p.m. and continues until 4:30 p.m. Come and enjoy picnic food, beverages and good times with friends while watching the Marlin men’s soccer team (game begins at 2 p.m.). The Class of 1998 will have a designated area to mingle under the main tent.
A Class picture will be taken at 1:30 p.m.!
The party doesn't stop there! Join the Reunion Committee after the tailgate at Chick's Oyster Bar at 5:30 p.m.

- On Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31 "Art Under the Oaks" was held at the home of Robyn (Larson) Bailey (1998) . "Art Under the Oaks" is a annual exhibit of pottery, sculpture and jewelry. Friends and family were able to view and purchase art from nine artists including Phil Guilfoyle (VWC Associate Professor of Art) and Robyn Bailey '98.
- Josephine (Franzese) Franzese (1998) and Adam Moskowitz (1998) are proud to announce the birth of their baby girl, Ella Marie Moskowitz. She was born on June 7, 2007 in Danbury, CT, and weighed 6 lb., 10 oz.
- John Haynes (1998) and Kathleen Haynes are proud to announce the birth of a baby boy, Gabriel Kyle. He was born on January 4, 2008 and weighed 9 lb., 20 oz. Gabriel joins big brother Wesley Ezekiel Haynes (Zeke) who will be 2 later this month.
- Rev. John Haynes, Jr. (1998) is now the director of the Tidewater Wesley Foundation located at Old Dominion University. The Tidewater Wesley Foundation is a campus ministry that supports the faculty, staff and students of ODU. His wife, Rev. Kathleen Haynes will be the Senior Pastor of Heritage United Methodist Church, adjacent to Virginia Wesleyan College at 815 Baker Road.
- Lindsey Reynolds (1998) and Jeremy Baker are happy to announce their marriage on October 6, 2007 in Richmond, VA. They currently reside in Edgewater, MD. Other alumni in attendance were Lisa (Luppachino) Gilson '97, Kate (Lantz) Boucher '97, Nicole Leno '98, Jessica (Lefurgey) Behnke '98, Melanie Miller '98, Megan (Melanson) Tardiff '98, Janet Adams '91 and Beth Widmaier '99
- Amy Mallett (1998) is now at AAA Tidewater located in Virginia Beach, VA as the new Vice President of Marketing . Amy recently was employed at DIA Advertising as an Account Executive.
- Adam Moskowitz (1998) is at Heritage Bank N.A. located in New York, New York, as Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications, SVP. Adam was previously employed at Signature Bank (SBNY) as Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications. Adam's move to Heritage Bank from Signature Bank marks his second consecutive involvement in the opening/launch of a commercial bank from a "de novo" position. Prior to joining Signature Bank in 2000 Adam worked with Trustcompany Bank in Jersey City, NJ following his graduation from VWC.
- Lisa (Scott) Strader (1998) got a job after graduation with Currituck County Public Schools in Barco, NC. where she taught high school English for 1and a half years. She then taught from 1999-2004 at Kellam High in Virignia Beach and after that at Escondido High in California for three years. She and her husband (LCDR Scott Strader) are currently stationed in Yokosuka, Japan where she teaches ESL at Central Texas College on the Naval Base and at her home. Lisa has traveled to Spain, Greece, Kuala Lumpur, Guam, Hawaii, Hong Kong and Japan. Among her achievements are climbing to the summit of Mt. Fuji and her near completion of her CLAD (Cross-cultural Language and Academy Development) certificate from Stanford.
- Sarah (Rutherford) Smiley (1998) and Dustin Smiley are proud to announce the birth of a baby boy, Lindell Grant Smiley. He was born on January 9, 2007 at Naval Hospital Pensacola, FL, and weighed 7 lb., 11 oz..
- Kristin (Kail) Stowe (1998) and David Stowe are happy to announce their marriage on June 23, 2007 in Richmond, VA .
- Christine Walter (1998) and William Hussey II are happy to announce their marriage on September 16, 2006 at Tabor Lutheran Church in Philadelphia, PA. We honeymooned in Ireland and Germany. Ann Marie Healey '99 was my Maid of Honor. I am still the Director of Operations for Walter Financial, Inc. and my husband, Bill, is an attorney with White and Williams in Philadephia.
