Laynee Timlin joined the Virginia Wesleyan College Communications Office in November 2009. She leads the College Communications staff and oversees all internal and external college communications including print publications, the Web site, press releases, advertising and promotions. In addition, she serves on the VWC leadership team and facilitates the College Communications Committee, serving as the central contact for VWC when issues requiring a public announcement arise.
Laynee holds Bachelor%u2019s and Master%u2019s degrees from California University of Pennsylvania and has a wealth of experience in education and the private sector. Her long career with the Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) as a speech/language pathologist , the division-wide partnership coordinator, and the system%u2019s Director of Community Relations included being named Teacher of the Year at both Holland and Tallwood Elementary Schools and VBCPS Administrator of the Year (2003) and Virginia%u2019s Administrator of the Year (2004). Laynee most recently served as Organizational Development Manager for Landmark Communications, now Landmark Media Enterprises, in Norfolk, VA. Her role at Landmark included supporting the Corporate Human Resources Department by designing and delivering company-wide training initiatives, coordinating HR Forums, Landmark Courses, and organizational compliance initiatives, as well as leading efforts to initiate employee affinity groups while serving on the Leveraging Difference Council. Laynee earned MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Qualification Certification in 2007 and also led teambuilding and employee relations sessions focused on understanding and appreciating differences and improving employee/organizational performance.
