Requirements & Deadlines

Requirements

  • Transfer students must be socially and academically eligible to return in good standing to their former institutions.
  • A 2.5 grade point average on all college work is encouraged.
  • Official transcripts must be sent directly from each previously attended college or university.
  • Official high school transcripts and SAT or ACT scores must be provided for students with fewer than 12 transferable college credits.

Deadlines

  • The College has a rolling admissions policy.
  • To be eligible for Transfer Scholarship opportunities, the application for admission must be postmarked by:
    • Jan. 1 for Spring semester applicants
    • July 1 for Fall semester applicants
  • Encouraged deadlines for application:
    • Oct. 1 for Spring semester applicants
    • Feb. 1 for Fall semester applicants

February Apply for financial aid (you can begin this process as early as January)

May Begin asking questions about what you have read in materials that were sent to you
June Visit campus (if you have not already done so)
July File the Virginia Tutition Assistance Grant application before July 31
August Begin the application process (highly recommended)
September Did you apply yet?
Have initial transcript sent
October Schedule an appointment with the transfer couselor (bring your transcript if it hasn't been sent)
November Have you seen a couselor yet?
December Good luck on exams!
January Make final preparations to transfer
Be sure to forward a final copy of your transcript
