Military Grant Program

Virginia Wesleyan College is now an active participant for the 2011-2012 Yellow Ribbon Program and we will honor the benefits for those eligible at 100%. We will also be applying to be a participant in the 2012-2013 Yellow Ribbon Program.

Virginia Wesleyan offers a variety of majors and minors throughout the liberal arts and sciences. We are proud to be able to serve our military through our Military Grant Program.

Your Benefits

Scholarships through the Military Grant Program apply to those veterans under the Post 9-11 GI Bill enacted in 2008, who have served on active duty for at least 36 months since Sept. 11, 2001 and are eligible for the maximum benefit rate.

Students participating in the Military Grant Program are also eligible for other Veterans Administration benefits, including living allowances and an annual stipend for books and supplies.

Eligibility Requirements

  • You served an aggregate period of active duty after September 10, 2001, of at least 36 months;
  • You were honorably discharged from active duty for a service connected disability and you served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001;
  • You are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran's service under the eligibility criteria listed above.

Application Process

  • Eligible students should apply for benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Apply here
  • Once you receive your Certificate of Eligibility (COE), please make an appointment with Virginia Wesleyan's VA Certifying Official and submit a copy of your COE.
  • Once your veteran's eligibility has been confirmed, you will receive notification of the total benefit.
