Inquire about financial aid programs sponsored by your or your parents’ employers. Also pursue financial aid scholarships on the web and through your church, public school system, local businesses, grocery stores, department stores, banks, credit unions, pharmaceutical companies, national brands and companies such as Tylenol, Pepsi-Cola, Kellogg’s, Wal-Marts, K-Marts, etc. Check also with local civic groups and professional organizations. Scholarships are out there, you just have to take the time to look for them and then apply!

2009 AES SCHOLARSHIP

  • Award: $500.00

Eligibility: College student just needs to answer one of the essay questions that can be found on the website. Achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped, therefore, this scholarship will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.

2010 Talbots Scholarship Foundation
  • Deadline: January 2, 2010
  • Award: $15,000 (10) to $30,000 (1)

This scholarship is available to empower women to enrich themselves through learning and achieving a college education. Elibility requirements are that she currently resides in the US or Canada, has earned a high school diploma or GED on or before Sept. 2000, be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full or part-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited 2 or 4-year college, university or vocational-technical school, attending the full 2010-11 academic year and receiving a degree no earlier than May 2011, and have at least two semesters (24 credit hours or more) remaining to complete an undergraduate degree as of the beginning of the 2010 fall academic term. Mensa Education & Research Foundation Essay Contest

Norfolk Southern Scholarship

The Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC) Brighter Futures competitive, corporate scholarship program is available to undergraduate students pursuing their degree at a VFIC member institution.

We are pleased to announce that applications are now available for the Norfolk Southern Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to 3 student scholars ($5,000 each) who are current juniors at a VFIC institution. This award would be renewed for the scholars senior year (upon student continuing to meet scholarship requirements) for a total award of $10,000 for their junior/senior years! Qualified students must be a U.S. Citizen, a first-semester Junior at the time of application (not studying abroad), have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, a declared major in Economics, Business, Finance, Accounting or related field, and interested in a career in a Fortune 500 corporate setting.

U.S. Navy Health Services Collegiate Program

  • Up to $42,000 of taxable income for tuition, books, and other living expenses
  • Commission as a Naval Officer upon graduation
