We seldom cancel classes due to weather or other situations. During inclement weather, classes are usually held as scheduled and students and faculty are urged to use caution in driving to the campus.
On the rare occasions when it is necessary to cancel classes because of exceptional weather or other circumstances, we immediately record an announcement on the Virginia Wesleyan College Hotline: 757.455.5711. We also notify the local ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates, as well as the major radio stations. Information may be posted on the Web site as well.
Emergency Notification - Register Now!
Virginia Wesleyan College has contracted with e2Campus for emergency notification. e2Campus is a self-service, Web-based notification system that allows College personnel to communicate time sensitive information to the entire campus community (students, faculty and staff) at once. In an electronic age, a text message from e2Campus is the fastest and most efficient way to communicate an emergency message to a large group of people in a short amount of time.
The Emergency Response Team requests that all Virginia Wesleyan students, faculty and staff members sign up for this service as soon as possible.
Because of Federal legislation, e2Campus is an opt-in program, and the College cannot register you for this service. It is important that you make it a priority to sign up.
