Virginia Wesleyan College is accepting applications for a Director of Annual Giving. This is a full-time position available for an individual with a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three years of successful fundraising experience, preferably in a higher education setting. The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, and implementing all aspects of the College's annual giving programs, emphasizing, but not limited to, unrestricted gifts through the Virginia Wesleyan Annual Fund for Academic Excellence, which is an integral part of the College's operating budget. The Director of Annual Giving oversees a multi-pronged solicitation program to include: direct mail, phonathon, personal solicitations and when appropriate electronic and social media. The goal of each fundraising approach is to increase the level of support from all constitutencies, acquiring new donors, and providing the College with a donor base for future fund raising campaigns. The Director shares in the development of comprehensive strategies for all aspects of the College's fund raising programs and assists with various development projects. The Director’s primary objective is to manage and maintain the Wesleyan Society level of donors. The position also manages a portfolio of Major Gift Prospects. Coordination with the Office of Alumni Realtions is also critical.
Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task are required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are needed. Must have ability to work well in a team-oriented environment, be able to work independently and resourcefully, and must show a high level of creativity. Knowledge and experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, relational databases and electronic communications technologies are required.
