Tuition and Fees

Continuing day students

Tuition and Fees: Degree-seeking students who were enrolled full-time in the fall semester preceding Winter Session and are registered to be full-time students in the subsequent spring semester may take up to 4 credits in Winter Session without charge beyond a $175 registration fee and any materials and travel fees that may pertain to a particular course. Students may not, however, exceed 36 credits across the academic year without incurring additional tuition charges.

Room and Board: Resident students who were enrolled as full-time students in the fall semester and will continue to live on campus in the spring must also live on campus for the three-week Winter Session, at no additional room cost. Resident students will be assessed $225 for a three-week cafeteria meal plan.  Resident students whose classes involve substantial travel time away from campus will be eligible for pro-rated meal plans.

Continuing students who could complete their degrees through Winter Session coursework

Seniors who are not eligible for December graduation but who could complete their degrees by taking credits in Winter Session are eligible for special tuition rates, equivalent to Summer Session rates.

To be eligible for this reduced tuition, the student must have completed all graduation requirements, beyond the 1-4 credit hours, prior to the beginning of winter session -- including having filed an intent to graduate (in May) form, having passed the writing proficiency test, having met minimum GPA requirements for all applicable programs, etc.  Students who believe they could be eligible for this exception should consult with their advisor and with the registrar's office.

New students or readmitted to Virginia Wesleyan in Spring

To be eligible to participate without incurring tuition charges, degree-seeking students must have been enrolled in the fall semester preceding Winter Session. Tuition expenses for 2007-08 are $1,015 per credit hour.

Students in the Adult Studies Program

Degree-seeking students in the Adult Studies Program may take as many as 4 credits in Winter Session at their standard per-credit tuition rate.

Auditors

Day program students who wish to audit a course are subject to the provisions outlined above for day students. Students whose only enrollment status at the college is as an auditor may audit courses at their standard per-credit auditing rate. Auditors may participate on a space-available basis, as determined after degree-seeking students have had an opportunity to enroll. For Winter Session 2008, the enrollment window for auditors begins on Nov. 15, 2007.

Note for community members who wish to audit a course but are not already enrolled at Virginia Wesleyan: To audit a Winter Session course, you need to apply for auditor status through the Adult Studies Program 757.455.3263. There is a $15 application fee and a $50 per credit auditing fee. Parking on campus requires a parking pass. Temporary passes will be available through the Security Office (757.455.3349), located in Bray Village.
