Abstract
This research examines college student's motivations to volunteer. Using the Volunteer Functions Inventory (VFI), respondent's possible motives for volunteering are examined through six factors: beliefs about commitments to helping others, gaining insight into other people, making social contacts, gaining career training and skills, dealing with their own stress, increasing feelings of self-worth. Application of these data may suggest opportunities for increasing volunteerism rates among this population.
