The United Methodist Church believes that it and all of it members are parts of the Body of Christ, which is the agent through which God acts in the world. Ecumenism is the concept of Christians working together to show God’s love in the world. The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church has the following statement on Ecumenism, “We labor together with the help of God toward the salvation, health, and peace of all people. In respectful conversion and in practical cooperation, we confess our Christian faith and strive to display the manner in which Jesus Christ is the life and hope of the world.” This commitment runs deep in the hearts of Methodist and I am trying to answer what is ecumenism and how Methodist would use it in the world.
