We are going to be researching and comparing the management structure between up-scale restaurant franchises, fast food franchises, and small privately owned businesses. Our main research question is whether or not a small privately owned business can be as successful as a franchise even though it is probably a more basic management structure. Our expectations are that there will be benefits to both, but when talking on an economic scale the franchises will most likely have the advantage.
