Abstract

In a collaborative project with Health Services, this applied sociology project examined student knowledge and specific areas of interest regarding HIV/AIDS. Surveys were administered to a convenience sample of students. Survey items assessed respondent knowledge, awareness, and conceptions about HIV/AIDS. Using survey results, the research team worked with professional AIDS educators to design an educational program targeting student misconceptions and specific areas of interest identified by students. Additional educational and student outreach recommendations based on the survey data were also developed.
