Structural Adjustment Policy and Its Effects on Third World Women
Abstract
Structural adjustment and economic crisis have gendered effects in both Africa and the Caribbean. Because of traditional gender roles in the family, women often must pick up the slack created by the decline of government expenditures on food subsidies, education and health care mandated by structural adjustment policy. Through my research I have developed a greater understanding of the causes of this crisis and how it affects the individuals in these two regions.
