Abstract

This presentation will explore how animation during the 1950s was changed greatly by the release of the television. Before this period, animation was primarily shown in movie theaters but with the increase of television sales and decrease in box office sales studios look to commercials and cartoons made for television in order to stay profitable. The fifties also marks the start of creating animation for children instead of adults with the Saturday morning cartoon lineup.
