I have conducted research and generated a formal analysis of pieces from my senior organ recital. In presenting my research, I have selected works of contrasting styles and forms to present to the division. Buxtehude's Prelude and Fugue in G Minor, BuxWV 149, is a traditional Baroque prelude and fugue with Buxtehude's trademark improvisation and virtuosity. Because the organ has first and foremost been an instrument of worship throughout history, I will also present three chorale preludes. The presentation will include a performance of all three chorale preludes as well as the second fugue and coda from the Buxtehude.
