|Course||MUS 480: Senior Project|
On my senior violin recital on April 13th, I will be playing "Summer" from The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, Sonatina in G major for Violin and Piano by Antonin Dvorak, the first movement of Concerto for Violin and Orchestra by Samuel Barber, Windows is Shutting Down by David Weirich (a collaborative effort between the four graduating music majors), and three short pieces for violin and piano by Elena Kats-Chernin (Birthday Rag, Nostalgic Piece, and Eliza's Aria). I have researched and prepared presentations on both the historical and musical aspects of all of these pieces. At the research symposium, I would present the two book-ends of my performance. I will talk about the idiomatic writing for the violin during the Baroque era displayed in The Four Seasons, and then talk about the world of composing today and how technology affects what is written with the Elena Kats-Chernin pieces.
