Abstract

My paper has two objectives. First, it will analyze US-Haitian relations during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, revealing that the United States interest in Haiti concentrated on the stability, not the form, of Haitian government. Second, it will demonstrate that the intervention of 1994-1995 was not a split from the previous US policy concerning Haiti. While conducting research, I experienced great difficulty in obtaining primary source material, which I assume was due to the recentness of the topic.
