Abstract

Virginia Wesleyan College experiences student attrition like other institutions. This research project studied the number of freshmen at Virginia Wesleyan that intended on graduating from the institution. A third (135) of all freshman resident students completed a questionnaire to measure their intentions. 47% indicated that they did not intend on graduating from this institution. Additional analysis based upon gender of respondents was also performed. The data that was collected from this research is beneficial to the school by demonstrating that before the end of the first semester many students are considering leaving; and that the reasons for doing so may also be measured.
