Abstract
This study examines the stereotypes popular media and society portray about homeschooling versus the reality of these stereotypes. If our society could better understand homeschooling and its effectiveness, then more children could be successfully educated. As an individual who was successfully homeschooled, I propose that there is no one approach to schooling that fits everyone. Using both surveys and interviews as a key part of my research, preliminary findings show that the public does subscribe to a number of these erroneous stereotypes about homeschooling, which may inhibit more families from choosing this option of education for their children.
