Abstract
This study describes the development of the Emotional Dependency Scale, a new psychological test measuring one’s emotional dependence on relationships with friends and significant others. 32 undergraduate participants completed the test. Scores were compared with scores on several other scales measuring similar constructs. Psychometric properties indicate the test has adequate reliability and validity for research. Suggestions for refinement and implications for its use will be discussed.
