This study explored how teaching through music in the primary grades enhances the quality and quantity of information learned in all subjects. Research indicates that music activates our memories and stimulates our brains. If music can help us remember important words and events in life, then why not bring music into the classroom as a teaching tool? Data from surveys and interviews revealed that music was beneficial when used as a teaching tool in the primary grades, and that teachers used music in different circumstances to accomplish specific learning goals. Suggestions for and examples of using music were also collected and categorized for incorporation in learning activities in primary grades classrooms.
