Everyday Ink: Photographing Tattoos

Student Hillary Armstrong
Faculty Mentor(s) Mr. Philip Guilfoyle
Department Art

I chose photography as my medium on this set of work because I wanted to capture the art of tattoos on real people. Another artist created the tattoo; I want to capture the beauty and personality in the individual and the tattoo or tattoos that the individual carries with them. I chose to take my pictures in black and white so that the pictures would look timeless and elegant. I wanted the focus to be not only on the tattoo but on the person in the picture as well. I did not want my models to be judged as anything other then an ordinary everyday individual.
