Preventing Communism In Occupied Japan

Student Victoria Pendleton
Faculty Mentor(s) Dr. Daniel Margolies
Department History
Course HIST 360

In my project I will discuss that the United Stats rebuilding of Japan was tailored to prevent Communism from spreading into Japan from the U.S.S.R. and China. This project has lead me through the reports of General MacArthur and President Truman, letters from occupying forces to their families, as well as through the works of known secondary source historians such as John Dower. I have utilized books from most of the schools in the Hampton Roads area and gone through original documents in the MacArthur Archives.
