Course POLS 499: Senior Seminar

Critics of the role of foreign aid to developing countries question the intent and effectiveness of such policies, and whether or not it promotes development and democracy. This paper draws on historical evidence to analyze the goals and effects United States Agency for International Development assistance to Nepal. It offers insight into the types of aid and foreign investment currently accepted in Nepal, and examines current development programs. Ultimately, this paper explores contemporary critiques of United States foreign aid, and determines whether it promotes or obstructs democratization and development in Nepal.
