Our class visit to the Northern Range of Trinidad, W.I. during Summer 2005 enabled a number of research opportunities. One of these included the comparison of arthropod presence in saproxylic communities. Harvestmen and Amblypygids were the most common species found within these microhabitats. This study indicates whether there is a preference to log size, as well as well as the most prevalent species captured.

Along with the study on log use by amblypygids and harvestmen, studies were done on mite infestation of neotropical species of harvestmen. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to identify the species of larval erythraeid mites that were attached to different harvestmen. We gained knowledge that helps us to indicate that the species of mite has not previously been identified or described in literature.
