VFIC Summer Research Grants

The Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC) awards summer research grants to VWC students in the natural sciences. The goal of these awards is to encourage undergraduate research in the natural sciences at Virginia’s private institutions of higher learning. In summer 2014, VFIC awarded research grants to two Virginia Wesleyan students.

Mr. Keane Dye received support for his research “Morphological Studies on Polymer Electrolyte Membranes (PEMs) Used in Fuel Cells: The Effects of Environmental Conditions.” His project was supervised by Associate Professor of Chemistry Dr. Kevin Kittredge.

Ms. Kelly Jacobson received support for her project “Assessment of Swimming Performance in Loggerhead Sea Turtle (Caretta caretta) Yearlings.” Her project was supervised by  Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Soraya Bartol.

To apply for a summer 2015 VFIC research grant, VWC students submit an online application, which is located here. This application is due on Monday, April 20th.

Funds for VFIC research grants may be applied toward expenses related to research, including equipment, software, travel, room and board on campus, and a stipend.
