College Level Examination Program

College Level Examinations and Credit ( 2/9/2012)

SCORING:  The American Council on Education (ACE) has developed a recommended credit-granting score and number of semester hours of credit for each CLEP exam.  VWC follows these recommendations and requires a minimum percentile score of 50, with the exception of French, German and Spanish 4-semester credit exams which have a higher score.  (See below.)

Scores are computed by granting one point for each correct answer on a test.  The resulting figure, called the formula score, is converted to a scaled score between 20 and 80.  Since CLEP testing is computer-based, points will not be deducted for wrong or skipped answers.  This means that you should do your best to supply an answer for each question on a CLEP exam.
