FALL MAINSTAGE PRODUCTION
Little Shop of Horrors
The VWC Theatre Department brings the Alan Menken and Howard Ashman cult musical classic to the stage for Homecoming Weekend. This homage to the Faust legend, B-horror films, and Science Fiction combines a meek plantshop worker, a damsel in distress, a masochistic dentist, and a bloodthirsty singing plant. The production uses dark humor and a infectious musical score to show the lengths one man goes for fame, fortune, and love.

What to bring for auditions:
This is a musical and all actors in the production will be expected to sing. For your initial audition, you must sing the verse and chorus of a song, perferrably a show tune. We will have an accompanist, so just bring a copy of your song with you. Your audition should show your range in voice and your ability as a performer to bring out the story of the song as you sing it. Some performers maybe asked to read from the script. Please bring a copy of your schedule to auditions, you will be asked to fill out an audition form that contains your contact info, general stage experience (previous experience not necessary), and your availability for reheasing.
Casting Info:
The VWC Theatre Department conducts open auditions. Auditions for parts are open to any auditioners. We also conduct color/gender-blind casting. We have a very short rehearsal period, so some actors may not be cast just based on availability. Knowing your schedule and accurately charting that on your audition form is critically important to the director. It is the actor's responsibility to work out conflicts.
Rehearsal Info:
Rehearsals times will vary for the first two weeks of rehearsal. You may not be called every night. However, all actors are expected to be at rehearsals as called. The director will be conducting rehearsals 6 days a week. Rehearsal times are generally 6PM-10PM Sun-Thurs. and 1PM-4PM on Fridays. Rehearsals will be scheduled based on cast availability. All cast members will be expected to be free for all dress and technical rehearsals and all performances.
Course Credit Available:
Any VWC student participating in a Mainstage Theatre production is elligilble to enroll in TH230: Rehearsal and Performance. This is a variable credit course worth (1-3 hrs.). A student must take 3 hrs (in one or more productions) to recieve the Generals Studies (A)esthetics credit. Enrollment is through consent of the director and workload varies based on role and credit load. Actors not cast in leading roles may not take Rehearsal and Performance for 3 hrs. without additional work outside of the role(s) onstage.
