The General Studies program at Virginia Wesleyan College is designed to enable each student to acquire basic proficiencies in and access to the various modes of knowledge that contribute to becoming a self-sufficient lifelong learner.
VWC's General Studies program includes:
- General Studies core requirements in English, Mathematics, Foreign Language, and Laboratory Science
- One course from each of the Frames of Reference categories A, C, E, H, S and V (see descriptions below)
- The requirement of completing one Senior Ingegrative Experience (I) and six Writing Intensive (W) courses (see descriptions below)
- The requirement that students take at least one General Studies course from each of the college's three academic divisions
