Virginia Wesleyan College offers several sources of academic support through the Learning Center at NO ADDITIONAL COST to VWC students: tutoring, academic counseling, study skills workshops. The Learning Center also coordinates study skills assistance and accommodations for students with special needs.
Learning Center Tutoring
The Learning Center's tutorial sessions are conducted by both professional and Peer Tutors who have been recommended by their respective departments. Peer Tutors are current students making B's or better on course work. If you are in need of a tutor, please select Peer Tutoring Schedules from the list on the left. If the course you need help with is not listed, please contact Mrs. Genai Hill, Director of Tutoring, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at 757.455.2127. Mrs. Hill's office is located in the Learning Center, Clarke Hall, room 228.
Writing Center Tutoring
The Writing Center uses Professional Tutors (graduates of Virginia Wesleyan College or other professionals out in the workforce). If you are in need of a Writing Tutor, please select Writing Center Services from the list on the left to view the tutors' schedule. The Student Enrichment Program
The Student Enrichment Program is an intensive program designed to provide a select cohort of incoming freshmen with extra guidance to make the transition to college. Through one-on-one counseling, a series of skill-building workshops, mentoring and tutoring, students in this program gain an enhanced ability to meet course requirements, participate in scholarly activities and complete their personal goals.

Disability Support Services for VWC Students
Academic accommodations and services for students with special needs are provided through the Learning Center's Disability Services Office. Cathy Daley, Director of Disability Services, verifies documentation, evaluates student's needs, arranges accommodations, and provides academic counseling. Registering with the Disability Office and providing acceptable documentation is required of any student interested in obtaining accommodations.
