Commencement Ceremonies

Virginia Wesleyan College’s annual Commencement ceremonies are held at the end of spring semester. These ceremonies bring together the College community to mark the achievement of degrees and for graduating students to be recognized and celebrated by their peers, mentors, family and friends.
Students must submit an Application for Degree via the Registrar to participate in Commencement. December graduates from the previous semester are eligible to participate in May Commencement.
Commencement is held the Convocation Center inside the Jane P. Batten Student Center. No tickets are required for VWC’s Commencement. Seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Baccalaureate Service in the sanctuary preceded by a Choir Recital at 7:10 p.m. at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, 212 19th Street, Virginia Beach, VA.
Commencement
Saturday, May 18, 2013
11 a.m
Commencement in the Convocation Center, Jane P. Batten Student Center, on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan. Doors to the Convocation Center open at 10 a.m. General seating is first-come, first-served. Commencement, Speaker: Terrence D. Jones, President Emeritus, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.
Reception to follow at 12:30 p.m. Graduates meet family, friends, and faculty and staff members following the ceremony at the reception. Reception is located in Boyd Dining Center.
ROTC Commissioning Ceremony
Saturday, May 18, 2013
1:00 p.m.
Commissioning Ceremony for ROTC Officer candidates will take place outside on the Boyd Center Plaza (in front of the John Wesley statue). In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Monumental Chapel.
Tickets
No tickets are required to attend commencement at Virginia Wesleyan College. Seating is open: first-come, first-served.
