Students
Let's get real. One of the best reasons to go to college is to make new friends. As a Wesleyan student, you'll form life-long relationships with people from Virginia, the East Coast, the nation and the world. We embrace diversity and celebrate the differences that every person brings to our community. With a small student body of approximately 1,400 (more than 700 residential students), you will be more than a face in the crowd or a number on a form. Faculty and staff members will call you by name. And you'll probably never pass someone on the sidewalk without getting a friendly smile and a hello!
Faculty
Our faculty members are not only specialists in their fields, they love (and live) to teach! They come from prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Princeton and Yale. And 87 percent of our faculty members have the highest degrees offered in their field. No need to worry that you'll be stuck in a huge classroom with 200 other students and a graduate assistant as a teacher – it's the faculty at Virginia Wesleyan College who will guide you through your college career. Our 13:1 student/teacher ratio means you'll get lots of one-on-one counsel and guidance. And your teachers will be more than mentors, they'll become your friends – friends who will challenge and push you toward your dreams and celebrate your successes.
Programs & Degrees

Job Placement
After college, then what? A job? Grad school? We help you get where you want to go. The Career Services Center will help you choose the right path when Virginia Wesleyan is in the rear view mirror. And, with a degree from Virginia Wesleyan, you have lots of great employment opportunities. Ninety percent of recent graduates found employment within six months of graduation at top-notch organizations such as the CIA, IBM and the US Capitol. If you decide not to go to work but to school, you're likely to be at one of the nation's top graduate schools.
Student Life
A real education is more than books and tests. It's about life! With more than 70 student organizations, you'll gain social and leadership skills for a lifetime. Clubs offer an easy outlet for involvement and entertainment on campus, many hosting social and service events throughout the year. Whatever you're into, we have. There's Greek life, service organizations, religious and foreign language clubs, the Black Student Union and the Model United Nations.
For the sporty types, check out intramural sports, ranging from volleyball
and soccer to softball and roller hockey. In your spare time
take advantage of the Jane P. Batten Center where you can rock climb, swim,
play racquetball, train, and after that, grab a bite to eat at the Marlin
Restaurant.

Campus Greening Initiative
Marlins go green! Recognizing the importance of environmental stewardship, Virginia Wesleyan College has set a campus greening initiative as one of its top priorities. President Billy Greer established the President's Environmental Issues Council (PEIC) to promote a strong environmental ethic and cultivate sustainable policies, practices and curricula throughout Virginia Wesleyan College.
Through its broad membership, the Council works with campus leaders to address environmental issues on campus and to promote conservation and environmental stewardship among Virginia Wesleyan's students, faculty and staff.

Athletics
Marlins work hard in the classroom, and play hard on the fields and courts. During the 2006-07 season, Virginia Wesleyan won more than 64 percent of its athletic contests, capturing a major award for the highest overall winning percentage among all of Virginia's Division II and III schools. The Marlins posted a 192-103-7 overall record, highlighted by a 106-33-1 record in Old Dominion Athletic Conference competition. Go Marlins!
Residences
Inspired by Thomas Jefferson's concept of the Academic Village, living
and learning are intermingled in our three residential villages. Villages
are split into halls for community living – single rooms, suites with
kitchens, and apartment-style living are also available. All rooms include
cable, telephone, a microwave, refrigerator/freezer unit and, of course,
Internet access. And, if you do not have a computer of your own, there are
plenty of computers available in campus computer labs.

Financial Aid
We don't think that limited financial resources is a reason not to come
to Wesleyan. That's why more than $4,000,000 in financial aid and institutional
scholarships was awarded to students last year. Eighty-five percent of students
receive some kind of financial aid, ranging from $1,000 a year to full tuition,
room and board. The Director of Financial Aid is available to counsel you
and your family regarding financial planning.
