Assistant Professor of Sociology/Criminal Justice


VIRGINIA WESLEYAN COLLEGE invites applications for a tenure-track position as assistant professor of Sociology/ Criminal Justice, beginning fall, 2013. A Ph.D. in Sociology, Applied Sociology, or Criminology is required at the time the position begins. The successful candidate will have both academic and applied experience in the discipline. Course assignments may include, but not be limited to, Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Visual Sociology, Family, Sociology of Religion, Social Theory, and Applied Sociology. The successful candidate will also be required to teach various criminal justice courses when needed; therefore, experience in teaching criminal justice courses, or a background in criminological research is important.  The teaching load is three four-credit courses per semester. The salary is competitive and an attractive benefits package is offered.
